BELLEFONTE, PA – The Dr. Wade Newman Award for Entrepreneurs officially announces the opening of applications for its 2026 award program, inviting undergraduate students across the United States to showcase innovative entrepreneurial ideas that have the potential to create meaningful impact within communities and industries.

Established in honor of Dr. Wade Newman, the award recognizes the value of leadership, innovation, perseverance, and service. The Dr. Wade Newman Award for Entrepreneurs is designed for undergraduate students who demonstrate a strong interest in entrepreneurship, business development, and creative problem-solving. Through an essay-based application process, eligible students are encouraged to present original ideas that address real-world challenges while outlining practical strategies for growth and implementation.

Applicants must currently be enrolled as undergraduate students at accredited colleges or universities within the United States. To be considered, candidates are required to submit an original essay responding to the following prompt:

“Describe an entrepreneurial idea or venture you are passionate about. Explain how this idea can make a positive difference in your community or industry, and discuss the challenges you may face and how you plan to overcome them.”

Essays must be between 750 and 1,000 words and should demonstrate originality, insight, creativity, and a clear entrepreneurial vision. Submissions will be evaluated based on clarity of thought, innovative thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and alignment with the values represented by the award.

The application deadline for the Dr. Wade Newman Award for Entrepreneurs is July 15, 2026. Following a comprehensive review process, the recipient will be announced on August 15, 2026. The selected student will receive a one-time award of $1,000 to support educational and entrepreneurial pursuits.

The award reflects the lifelong dedication of Dr. Wade Newman to service, leadership, and professional excellence. Before beginning his career in dentistry, Dr. Wade Newman served as a police officer after earning a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice from Penn State University. He later earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from West Virginia University School of Dentistry, where he received multiple honors recognizing his academic and clinical achievements.

Throughout his career, Dr. Wade Newman has combined professional success with service-oriented leadership. His humanitarian efforts have included providing care to underserved populations through international missions, while his military career in the Air National Guard culminated in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Wade Newman also founded Eagle Valley Family Dentistry, a practice built upon principles of integrity, compassion, and quality care.
