“The Rise of Fentanyl in New Orleans”, the Debut Book by Michael Corner Launches

“The Rise of Fentanyl in New Orleans” is a debut book by Michael Corner, a journalist who has covered the opioid crisis in New Orleans for several years. The book tells the story of how fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, has devastated the city’s drug scene and led to a sharp increase in overdose deaths.

Corner begins the book by tracing the origins of fentanyl, which was first developed in Belgium in the 1960s as a painkiller. In the 1990s, fentanyl began to be used illegally in China, and it soon made its way to the United States. By the early 2010s, fentanyl was being sold on the streets of New Orleans, and it quickly became the drug of choice for many users.

“Growing up in the city streets of New Orleans, I realized early on that life imitates art. As an adolescent seeing guys much older than me selling dope, having lots of money, riding in nice cars, and girls talking about them dressing in fly clothes, impacted my life for the next twenty years to come. Not long after I became a drug dealer, but also broke the number one unwritten rule, which never got high on your own supply. I began to sell and use dope, also known as Heroin and Fentanyl. For the next ten years, I struggled tremendously trying to regain back my sobriety, which eventually I did.” Michael Corner says.

Corner’s book tells the stories of people who have been affected by the opioid crisis in New Orleans. He talks to users, dealers, and law enforcement officials, and he paints a vivid picture of the devastation that fentanyl has caused. The book is a powerful and important read, and it is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand the opioid crisis in New Orleans.

Corner’s book has been praised by critics for its thorough reporting and its compassionate portrayal of the people who have been affected by the opioid crisis. The book has also been credited with raising awareness of the crisis in New Orleans and beyond.

“The Rise of Fentanyl in New Orleans” is a powerful and important book that tells a story that needs to be told. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the opioid crisis in New Orleans and the devastating impact that it has had on the city.
