The average U.S. veteran will take more than a year to find sustainable employment after leaving the military. In the interim, these heroic citizens and their families sink into poverty. In the “crisis management” modality of manufacturing, veterans have already demonstrated the capacity to perform well under pressure. Manufacturers are learning to leverage veterans’ skills and reduce high turnover rates among veteran populations. Manufacturers committed to the veteran workforce include mentoring, which focuses on acclimation into the workforce, then shifting to professional development opportunities.
